HB 248 amends the Texas Education Code Section 48.101, revising the funding formulas for the small and mid-sized district allotment within the public school finance system. Specifically, it adjusts the allotment formulas used to determine funding for school districts with fewer than 1,600 students and those with fewer than 5,000 students in average daily attendance (ADA). The bill increases the funding multiplier for each eligible student, effectively raising the amount of state funding provided to small and mid-sized districts. HB 248 is set to take effect on September 1, 2025.
