Digest
HB 2534 grants employees the right to take time off from work if they or their child are victims of family violence or a violent felony offense. The bill allows up to 30 workdays of leave within a 12-month period for medical treatment, counseling, legal assistance, relocation, or other necessary actions related to their safety and recovery. Employers may require certification and can mandate that employees use existing leave time before taking unpaid leave under this bill.
