HB 2823 establishes a grant program to cover qualified medical expenses for retired law enforcement dogs. The program, administered by the Texas Comptroller, will provide financial assistance for necessary veterinary care, including treatment for injuries, illnesses, or life-threatening conditions. Grants will only be awarded for dogs with a reasonable chance of recovery, as determined by a licensed veterinarian​.
