Digest
HB 2880 creates the "Advancing Wellness and Resiliency in Education" (AWARE) Campus designation for public schools that implement strong mental and behavioral health programs. To qualify, a campus must employ a school counselor who spends at least 80% of their time on counseling duties, maintain partnerships with mental health providers, and offer staff training on student mental health. Schools must also provide multitiered support services that address school climate, emotional well-being, and psychological safety. Participating campuses are required to post mental health resources on their websites and follow state guidelines on parental consent for student mental health services.
