HB 2988 revises the award of costs and attorney’s fees in lawsuits involving the exercise of certain constitutional rights. It allows courts to award reasonable and necessary attorney’s fees as equitable and just, removing previous mandatory fee provisions. The law applies to actions filed on or after September 1, 2025.
