Digest
HB 3878 expands physician authority to provide and dispense drugs directly to patients under Chapter 158, Occupations Code. It allows physicians to maintain in-office supplies of dangerous drugs, dispense them without a pharmacy license, and be reimbursed for drug costs. The bill also permits physicians to delegate drug dispensing authority to trained staff. However, compounded drugs are excluded from this provision.
