HB 4471 proposes changes to the appointment of a signature verification committee in certain Texas counties. Specifically, it requires the establishment of such a committee in general elections for state and county officers when requested in writing by at least 15 registered voters in counties with populations under 600,000 or at least 250 registered voters in counties with populations of 600,000 or more. The request must be submitted by October 1 of the preceding year​.
