HB 4645 creates a new district attorney’s office for the 365th Judicial District in Maverick County and modifies the duties of the district attorney for the 293rd Judicial District. Under this bill, Dimmit and Zavala Counties will continue to elect a district attorney for the 293rd District, while Maverick County will elect a separate district attorney for the 365th Judicial District, who will also represent the state in cases arising in the 293rd District in Maverick County. The new district attorney’s office takes effect on September 1, 2025​.
