Digest
HB 4814, known as the "Forbidding Unlawful Representation of Roleplaying in Education or F.U.R.R.I.E.S Act," amends the Texas Education Code to prohibit students from engaging in non-human behaviors while in school, except on designated "exempt days" such as Halloween or school-sanctioned costume days. It defines non-human behaviors as actions such as using litter boxes, wearing tails or animal ears, making animal sounds, or engaging in other non-human conduct. The bill also prevents student organizations from forming for the purpose of circumventing this prohibition.
