HB 494 amends the Texas Education Code to expand eligibility for free prekindergarten enrollment to include children of full-time employees of the school district in which the prekindergarten program is offered. The bill maintains eligibility for other categories, such as children who are homeless, educationally disadvantaged, or children of military personnel. It also allows children who begin prekindergarten under this provision to remain eligible even if their parent ceases to be employed by the school district.
