HB 5077 amends the Education Code to enhance civic education within the public school foundation and social studies curricula. It includes additional primary source documents, such as excerpts from Democracy in America and writings of the founding fathers, and expands the emphasis on government structures and civic engagement. The updates will apply beginning with the 2025-2026 school year and include provisions for simulations and civil discourse exercises.
