HB 5255 amends the Texas Family Code to prohibit the Department of Family and Protective Services from considering the citizenship or immigration status of a child's relative or designated caregiver when making placement decisions. It also bars the department from considering a parent's immigration or citizenship status when deciding whether to take possession of a child.
