HB 5282 regulates the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in grading student assessments in Texas public schools. It prohibits the use of AI-based scoring systems, except when they have been trained on diverse student responses and independently verified for accuracy and fairness. AI-based scoring systems must meet industry standards and undergo third-party evaluation to ensure they do not introduce bias or inaccuracies in grading constructed responses​.
