HB 5609 sets new requirements for public drinking water systems regarding boil water notices. Operators must issue a boil water notice within 12 hours of learning about a violation or contamination risk that could adversely affect public health. If the issue persists beyond 48 hours, the system must reissue the notice with an update on corrective actions being taken​.
