Digest
HB 5625 allows certain municipalities and local government corporations to use hotel occupancy tax revenue for infrastructure projects related to venues and convention centers. It applies to municipalities with a population of 650,000 to 750,000 or cities on the Texas-Mexico border with at least 750,000 residents. It also grants local government corporations the same tax-spending authority as municipalities, provided they collect hotel occupancy taxes and are located in border counties with populations between 860,000 and 950,000.
