HB 5626 establishes a right to unpaid leave for organ or bone marrow donation. Employees may take up to 90 working days per year to donate or receive an organ or bone marrow. The leave must run concurrently with any federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) entitlement. Employers who violate this provision commit an unlawful employment practice under Chapter 21 of the Texas Labor Code.
