HB 5630 allows courts to order alternatives to incarceration as part of a defendant’s sentence. Instead of confinement, courts may require defendants to complete education programs, counseling, treatment, community service, or other rehabilitative measures if they are deemed to provide accountability, reformation, and public safety.
