HB 596 amends Section 255.003 of the Election Code to prohibit school district and charter school officers or employees from using public resources to distribute communications that advocate for or against a candidate, measure, or political party. Exceptions include sharing information about election dates, polling locations, and polling hours. Violations are classified as a Class A misdemeanor.
