HB 723 mandates the installation of school bus monitoring systems to detect and report traffic offenses, particularly illegal passing of school buses. Local authorities and school districts must report such offenses to law enforcement and may use recorded images as evidence. Districts implementing systems before September 1, 2025, are exempt from the new requirements. Compliance with the installation mandate is deferred until September 1, 2027. The Act takes effect on September 1, 2025.
