HB 785 requires public schools to adopt a Healthy and Safe School Water Plan, which includes periodic testing for lead in drinking water and immediate remediation for elevated levels. Schools must maintain records of test results, notify stakeholders within 24 hours of any issues, and post results online. The Texas Education Agency will provide a model plan and may reimburse testing costs. The Act applies starting September 1, 2025.
