HB 797 strengthens oversight and accountability of judges through amendments to the Government Code. It clarifies disciplinary grounds for judicial conduct, expedites timelines for processing complaints by the State Commission on Judicial Conduct, and ensures greater transparency in reporting reprimands to legislative and judicial entities. The Act also establishes procedures for suspending judges under investigation for significant violations and provides expanded rights for reviewing sanctions, effective September 1, 2025.
