Digest
HB 822 mandates that employers provide paid sick leave to employees, accruing at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, with unused leave carried over to subsequent years. Paid leave may be used for personal or family illness, preventative care, or reasons related to family violence, sexual assault, or stalking. Employers are required to provide notice of these rights and are prohibited from retaliating against employees for using paid leave. The law is effective September 1, 2025, with initial implementation beginning January 1, 2026, for existing employees.
