Digest
HB 826 mandates the installation of air quality monitors in counties adjacent to those with populations exceeding 3.3 million and containing coal-fired electric generating facilities. The monitors must collect data on air contaminants listed in the state’s Air Pollutant Watch List and be positioned near such facilities. Data will be made available online in real-time, with an annual report analyzing compliance with national air quality standards and recommending legislative or regulatory actions. The law takes effect September 1, 2025.
