HB 833 amends the Code of Criminal Procedure to expand credit toward a defendant’s sentence for pre-sentencing confinement. It includes time spent in substance abuse treatment facilities or while confined for another case after committing the offense in question. The changes apply to offenses for which sentencing occurs on or after September 1, 2025.
