Digest
HB 861 amends procedures for handling complaints against health care practitioners licensed by different entities. It mandates that complaints received by a licensing entity about a practitioner licensed elsewhere be forwarded to the appropriate entity, which retains primary jurisdiction for investigation and resolution. Licensing entities cannot take disciplinary action unless the complaint is referred back for further investigation. The law applies to complaints filed on or after its effective date, September 1, 2025, unless immediate approval is achieved.
