SB 1093 establishes stricter documentation requirements in suits affecting the parent-child relationship. It amends the Family Code to require courts to provide detailed written findings when making determinations about a child's welfare. Specifically, when a court finds that a child's parents are unwilling or unable to provide a safe environment, the court must include specific factual findings in a separate section of its order. Simply citing the case record or incorporating previous findings by reference will no longer be sufficient. This requirement applies to all pending and future cases starting September 1, 2025.
