SB 1102 expands the scope of practice for licensed midwives by allowing them to administer certain drugs, including those commonly used in labor, postpartum care, and newborn prophylaxis. It also mandates additional training in pharmacology for midwives and requires them to complete continuing education in the administration of these drugs. The bill establishes that midwives administering these medications are not engaging in the practice of medicine.
