SB 1144 extends the period that an emergency shelter facility may provide care to minors from 15 days to 30 days. It also allows minors aged 16 or older who live independently or are pregnant or parenting to consent to continued shelter services beyond the initial period. The bill aims to improve housing stability for homeless and at-risk youth by giving them more time to access resources before transitioning out of shelter care.
