Digest
SB 1187 creates a criminal penalty for unauthorized votes by Texas delegates or alternate delegates at a federal Article V convention. If a delegate knowingly casts an unauthorized vote, they commit a state jail felony. Additionally, if a judge grants community supervision, the bill requires that the convicted individual serve at least 10 days in county jail. If the individual's probation is revoked, time previously served cannot be credited toward the final sentence.
