SB 1274 prohibits health benefit plans from requiring prior authorization for prescription drugs prescribed to prevent human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. It applies to a broad range of health plans, including Medicaid and CHIP, and becomes effective for health plans delivered or renewed on or after January 1, 2026. Implementation may be delayed if federal waivers or authorizations are required.
