SB 1420 restricts counties, municipalities, and school districts from using public funds to influence state legislation. It prevents these entities from hiring lobbyists but allows elected officials and employees to advocate for or against legislation without requiring lobbyist registration. It also permits legal action by taxpayers or residents to stop unauthorized lobbying and allows them to recover attorney’s fees if they prevail.
