SB 1766 directs the Texas Center for Nursing Workforce Studies nursing advisory committee to conduct a study on school nurse staffing. The study will examine school nurse salaries, determine whether they should be paid at levels comparable to teachers, assess the availability of school nurses during instructional hours, and explore recruitment strategies, including hiring directly from universities. The advisory committee must submit a report with findings and recommendations to the governor and legislature by December 1, 2026​.
