SB 1998 establishes a statewide pediatric subspecialty preceptorship program for medical students in Texas. The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board is authorized to contract with nonprofit organizations or accredited medical schools to operate this program. Eligible students must indicate an interest in pursuing a career in a pediatric subspecialty, which includes certifications recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association. The program begins in the 2025-2026 academic year​.
