SB 421 mandates that peace officers complete specialized training on acquired and traumatic brain injuries as well as trauma-affected veterans as part of their minimum curriculum requirements. The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement is tasked with adopting rules for implementing these training standards, which will apply to officers beginning their training on or after January 1, 2026.
