SB 443 restricts corporate ownership of single-family homes used as rental properties. Corporate entities are limited to holding interests in no more than 10 such homes in Texas. It establishes penalties of $100,000 per home for violations and requires Texas A&M’s Real Estate Research Center to track and report corporate activities in this area. The measure is aimed at preserving housing affordability and limiting the influence of corporate landlords.
