SB 473 strengthens regulation of telephone solicitations by creating a private cause of action for individuals harmed by violations of the state’s solicitation laws. Victims can seek statutory damages ranging from $500 to $10,000 per violation, as well as court costs and attorney’s fees. State agencies may also condition licensure or permits on compliance with these regulations.
