SB 564 addresses the circumstances under which the Texas Education Agency (TEA) must remove a conservator, board of managers, or alternative management arrangement from a school district or campus. The bill mandates that if all campuses responsible for the TEA intervention receive an acceptable performance rating, the district’s elected board of trustees must resume management of the campus or district. It eliminates the requirement for consecutive acceptable performance ratings, expediting the return to local governance. This legislation applies beginning with the 2025–2026 school year.
