SB 722 establishes a mobile stroke unit grant program under the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC). The program allows comprehensive (Level 1) stroke facilities to apply for grants to cover capital costs associated with the purchase and operation of these mobile units. Grant recipients must report annually on their use of funds, health outcomes of treated individuals, and operating expenses. The HHSC is authorized to accept additional funding through gifts, grants, and donations. The executive commissioner is required to adopt rules for implementing the program by January 1, 2026.
