Digest
SB 805 directs the establishment of regional school district health coverage advisory committees by the executive directors of Texas's regional education service centers. Each committee will consist of superintendents, classroom teachers, and parents from school districts served by the center. The committees are tasked with conducting biennial studies on health coverage options for school district employees, including assessments of costs, benefits, and the feasibility of cooperative purchasing arrangements for health insurance. The committees will submit their findings and recommendations to the education service center directors, who will distribute the reports to school district boards and superintendents. Directors must also meet with superintendents to discuss the findings. Initial committee appointments must be completed by January 1, 2026.
