Digest
SB 940 allows the board of trustees in certain school districts to create a nonvoting student trustee position. The student trustee may participate in board discussions and attend open meetings but cannot vote, make or second motions, or be counted for quorum purposes. The appointment process and term length for the student trustee are determined by the board of trustees.
