Digest
SB 969 amends Section 660.113 of the Government Code and introduces Section 660.1135 to allow state agencies to reimburse employees for groceries purchased within their headquarters under certain conditions. The bill defines "groceries" as food items bought at grocery stores or similar establishments and permits reimbursement for groceries purchased on the day before or the day of official state business travel, provided they are consumed during the trip. Reimbursement is limited to the prorated portion of groceries consumed daily while on state business and is subject to meal expense limits set by the General Appropriations Act. State agencies must develop policies for managing these reimbursements. The act takes effect on September 1, 2025.
