The Texas Senate Select Committee on Homeland & Border Security will hold an interim hearing on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in Room E1.016 of the Texas Capitol.

The committee will examine security and commercial vehicle inspection capacity at land ports of entry connecting Texas and Mexico, including existing and proposed facilities and opportunities to standardize procedures across commercial ports.

Senators will also study the movement of oversized and overweight commercial vehicles carrying hazardous materials in the Texas border region, including accidents involving overweight fuel trucks and their effects on public safety and roadway conditions.

Additional charges focus on fuel-related criminal activity, including export fuel theft, tax evasion, money laundering, falsified shipping documents, and public corruption connected to stolen or adulterated fuel. The committee will consider potential strategies for improving enforcement and prosecution of these offenses.

Invited and public testimony will be heard. Public testimony may be limited to two minutes per witness.
