Interim Hearing | Electric Grid, Cyber Command & Online Ticket Sales

The Texas Senate Committee on Business & Commerce will hold an interim hearing on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in Room E1.012 of the Texas Capitol.
The committee will examine proposals to modernize electric transmission planning, construction, and ratemaking while addressing rising electricity costs. Senators will consider ways to maximize existing transmission infrastructure, reduce congestion through distributed energy resources, energy storage, and other grid technologies, and evaluate proposed changes to ERCOT’s interconnection process, including potential transparency and accountability safeguards.
Lawmakers will also review implementation of House Bill 150 (HB 150), passed during the 89th Legislature, which established the Texas Cyber Command and transferred certain powers and duties from the Department of Information Resources.
The committee will additionally examine online ticket sales and the secondary ticket market. Senators will evaluate online ticket platforms, consumer price transparency, and potentially unfair or deceptive practices and consider whether changes to state consumer protection laws are necessary.
Invited and public testimony will be heard. Public testimony will be limited to two minutes per witness.
