The Texas House Select Committee on Governmental Oversight will hold an interim hearing on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in Room E2.028 of the Texas Capitol.
The committee will examine the role and structure of education foundations affiliated with Texas public school districts, including their revenue sources, financial relationships with school districts, use of public funds, transparency requirements, reporting and oversight, conflicts of interest, and protections for taxpayer resources.
Lawmakers will also review the Texas Public Information Act (PIA), including which entities are subject to the law, the effectiveness of the Act, existing exemptions from public disclosure, and public notice requirements.
The committee will additionally examine the Texas Open Meetings Act and the authority of political subdivisions to conduct meetings subject to the Act outside the territory of the political subdivision. Invited and public testimony will be heard.
