The Texas Senate Select Committee on Veteran Affairs will hold an interim hearing on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in Room E1.012 of the Texas Capitol.

The committee will examine the effectiveness of Texas’s veteran claims-assistance infrastructure and the impact of the State Strike Force. Senators will consider vulnerabilities involving deceptive claims-assistance practices and potential protections for veterans from unaccredited or predatory actors.

The committee will also review resources available to Texans transitioning out of military service, including the federal Transition Assistance Program and the Texas Military Veteran Peer Network (MVP), and consider ways to strengthen the transition into civilian careers.

Lawmakers will additionally monitor implementation of Senate Bill 1814, concerning electronic databases containing veterans’ resources and benefits, and House Bill 114, relating to the transfer of certain veteran mental health programs.

Invited and public testimony will be heard, with public testimony following invited testimony and limited to two minutes per witness.
