Biography

Rep. Janis Holt is a Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives, first elected in November 2024 and sworn in in January 2025 to represent District 18, which covers a band of Southeast Texas including Hardin, Liberty, and San Jacinto counties plus a portion of Montgomery County. A graduate of Port Neches-Groves High School, she earned a Bachelor of Science from Lamar University in 1994.

Rep. Holt has lived in Silsbee since 1993, where she and her husband of more than 33 years, Alton, own Hi-Tech Air Purification Systems, a company that provides air purification systems for homes, businesses, and military installations. The Holts also raise Angus cattle on their ranch. Earlier in her career, Rep. Holt worked as a dental assistant and a fourth-grade schoolteacher. She has served as a trustee of the Silsbee Independent School District since 2014 and most recently as Board President.

In December 2019, Gov. Greg Abbott appointed Rep. Holt to the State Commission on Judicial Conduct for a six-year term, where she served on the Executive Committee as Vice-Chair before resigning in 2024 to run for the Texas House.

For the 89th Legislative Session, Speaker Dustin Burrows appointed Rep. Holt to the House Committees on Homeland Security, Public Safety & Veterans’ Affairs and Pensions, Investments & Financial Services. Rep. Holt and her husband have four married children and five grandchildren.
