HB 1046 amends the Family Code to allow relatives or designated caregivers of children placed in their care by the Department of Family and Protective Services to receive support payments and benefits on behalf of the child. It facilitates assigning the child’s support rights and designating caregivers as representative payees for applicable benefits, including Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
