HB 309 amends the Government and Local Government Codes to prohibit political subdivisions in Texas from using public funds to hire lobbyists or pay associations that engage in lobbying activities. It provides taxpayers or residents with the right to seek injunctive relief if a political subdivision violates this restriction. The bill also specifies that any contract requiring such prohibited expenditures is void.
