HJR 157 proposes a constitutional amendment allowing the legislature to exempt from ad valorem taxation the portion of a property’s appraised value that results from the installation or construction of an on-site energy generator. The amendment expands existing tax exemptions for solar and wind-powered energy devices to include electric generators primarily used for on-site energy production. If passed, this measure would be subject to voter approval in the November 4, 2025, election.
