Proposing a constitutional amendment authorizing the legislature to exempt from ad valorem taxation the amount of the appraised value of real property that arises from the installation or construction on the property of a generator that is primarily for the production and distribution of energy for on-site use.

SJR 73 proposes a constitutional amendment allowing the legislature to exempt from ad valorem taxation the portion of a property’s appraised value that results from the installation or construction of an on-site energy generator. The amendment expands existing tax exemptions for solar and wind-powered energy devices to include electric generators primarily used for on-site energy production. If passed, this measure would be subject to voter approval in the November 4, 2025, election.
